
Job Title: Farmers Market Assistant
Overview: The Farmers Market Assistant supports the daily operations of the WDBA Farmers Market, contributing to set-up, tear-down, and ensuring a welcoming and organized experience for all patrons. Responsibilities include monitoring the handicap parking area, checking in patrons, assisting vendors, and enforcing Market guidelines to maintain a safe, clean, and accessible environment for everyone.
Key Responsibilities:

Market Set-Up and Tear-Down

Assist in the physical setup and breakdown of market infrastructure, including tables, signage, tents, and other equipment.

Safely lift and transport equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.

Ensure all materials are properly stored and secured after each Market session.

Patron Engagement and Check-In
-
Welcome and check in patrons as they arrive, providing directions and answering questions as needed.

Manage sale of market money utilizing all required tracking sheets

Support market fundraising efforts through donated Market bag sales

Maintain a friendly and helpful presence to enhance the patron experience

Handicap Parking Area Monitoring

Oversee the handicap parking area to ensure it remains accessible and safe, guiding patrons as needed.

Address any issues in the handicap parking area promptly and work with Market management to resolve concerns.

Vendor and Market Guideline Enforcement

Enforce Market guidelines and policies with vendors, ensuring compliance for a safe and fair Market environment.

Assist vendors with setup needs, provide direction as needed, and maintain open communication with the Market team.

Function as a runner to allow vendors to momentarily step away from their booth for bathroom breaks or purchase drinks / snacks for vendors as requested

Cleanliness and Safety Oversight

Ensure trash receptacles are accessible and emptied as necessary, maintaining a clean and orderly market area.

Monitor and clean table areas to insure cleanliness throughout the Market day

Oversee the cleanliness and usability of porta potties, coordinating with vendors or staff to address maintenance needs.

All Other Duties as Assigned

Assist with additional tasks as requested by Market management to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for vendors and patrons.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds.

Ability to walk extensively throughout the market grounds and work on your feet for extended periods.

Qualifications:

Experience in customer service or event support is preferred.

Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.

Reliable and punctual, with strong attention to detail.

Must be 18 years of age or older

Schedule: Saturday’s May - October 6:30am - 1pm
